What is a Monoblock heat pump?

A Monoblock heat pump is a type of air-to-water heat pump used for home heating and domestic hot water.  Unlike split devices, Monoblock heat pumps have the entire refrigeration system housed in a single unit located outside the building.  The refrigerant gas connections are made and filled at the production stage, and the gas is sealed within the outdoor unit.  The tightness of the system is carefully checked by the manufacturer, and only water or glycol-filled pipes are led out of the outdoor unit during assembly.
